7 Beginner Mistakes

  1. Inadequate diet - The first and biggest key to accomplishing a fitness goal is proper nutrition. The breakdown of what goes into your body versus what is expelled through energy is the biggest obstacle. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, gain weight, or adhere to a healthier lifestyle, a change in your food choices is the foundation to building a house; without it you have a structure that will never last.
  2. Will Power - If your sole purpose is to truly dive into a diet, you have to realize it’s not all rainbows and unicorns prancing around on the other side. Sometimes saying no to a delicious brownie is hard but, realizing your goal will sure power your will to turn it down.
  3. Improper form - Before worrying about hitting your full potential with weight, focus on developing near perfect form. Perfecting your form will build long term success with weight.
  4. Worry - Don't be afraid to ask knowledgeable fitness individuals who may provide a great tip and/or advice on a new machine.
  5. EGO - Don’t worry about pressing the most weight in the gym, however focusing on isolating the muscle you are trying to work and build from there.
  6. Too much, Too soon - Individuals who start a program usually fall off fairly soon because they try to make drastic changes to their life with dieting and a good relationship with fitness. Making small changes to your diet and small progressions in the gym is the key to long term success.
  7. False encouragement - Don't believe everything you see or hear in the gym! If getting advice, be sure the individual can back his advice as opposed to those who think they know everything.
